OUR FAMILY CORNBREAD RECIPE PASSED DOWN FOR MANY GENERATIONS. MY GRANDMA GRUBBS COULD MAKE CORNBREAD LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS! ENJOY!
Ingredients:
2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, for skillet
2 cups milk
1/2 cup mayonaise
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°.
2. Put oil or shortening in a 10-inch iron skillet and place in the oven to preheat while making batter.
3. Combine all dry ingredients
4. Add wet ingredients
5. Pour into hot skillet (batter will sizzle)
