This recipe is found on and is supposedly for this dish served on the Southern Railway's Southern Crescent passenger train. I have no idea if it is authentic or not, but it is worth posting. Resting time in refrigerator is not included. Ingredients:
2 cups freshly ground beef |
1/2 cup heavy cream |
1 small onion, chopped |
1/2 cup breadcrumbs |
1 egg |
salt and pepper, as desired |
butter, for sauteeing |
Directions:
1. Sauté the finely chopped onion until clear. With clean hands carefully mix all of the ingredients together until a uniform mixture is obtained. Place mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour, then form into oblong steaks . Fry in butter until light brown on each side and serve with your favorite mushroom sauce. |
