This is my Aunt Helen's recipe for Southern Fried Potatoes...She has added her on flair to these...Very Delicious... Ingredients:
5 or 6 large red potatoes with skin on, cut in round slices |
1 large onion, chopped |
3 green onions, chopped for garnish |
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped |
1 bottle or package of real bacon bits |
2 to 3 cups of cheddar cheese, grated |
salt, pepper, garlic salt to taste or any other spice you like |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in large iron skillet or whatever skillet you have. 2. Place washed and sliced potatoes in skillet to fry. 3. Add seasonings to taste. 4. Add chopped onion and bell pepper (dont add green onion yet.) 5. Stir and Cook to desired doneness. 6. Add package of bacon bits; stir. 7. Turn off heat. 8. Add cheddar cheese to top of this and add lid to melt cheese. 9. After cheese is melted add chopped green onion for added color and flavor. |
