I couldn't find a recipe exactly like I wanted, so I put this one together as an experiment. It worked great. I used real butter. Ingredients:
5 ripe plums, washed, halved, pitted then sliced |
6 tablespoons sugar, for plums |
3/4 cup self rising flour |
3/4 cup sugar |
3/4 cup milk |
1/4 cup butter |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a 1 or 1-1/2 quart baking dish. 2. Slice plums into bowl and add the 6 tablespoons sugar, set aside. 3. Mix the flour, 3/4 cup sugar and milk together. 4. Pour batter over melted butter - do not stir. 5. Pour sweetened plums over batter - do not mix. 6. Bake at 350°F 7. As the top starts to brown, pull from oven and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Return to oven and bake until top is dark brown. Total baking time approximately 1 hour. |
