Mustard, collard or turnip greens are a Southern staple. Here is a simple flavorful way to fix them. Ingredients:
2 bunches greens |
1 quart water |
1 medium onion, diced |
1 pickled tabasco pepper (can take from pepper sauce bottle) |
3 tablespoons sugar |
4 ounces cubed ham or 1 ham hock |
Directions:
1. Remove stems from and wash and chop the greens. Combine all ingredients with the greens in large pot and simmer until tender, about 2 hours. Best served with cornbread! |
