Growing up in the south this side dish/veggie was a main staple. Especially when you have home grown veggies on hand. Ingredients:
8 okra pods |
1 cup yellow cornmeal |
1 tablespoon flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 cup oil |
Directions:
1. Slice okra in 1/4-inch slices. 2. Wash in cold water. 3. Mix cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper together. 4. Roll okra in cornmeal mix. 5. Fry in hot skillet for 10 minutes or until golden brown. 6. Drain on paper towels or brown paper bags. |
