An unusual way to prepare Southern Fried Chicken -very tasty! Recipe from Southern Living Magazine. Ingredients:
2 cut up fryer chickens (about 2 1/2 lbs ea.) |
1/4 cup cider vinegar |
1/4 cup salt |
3 cups flour |
2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt |
1 tablespoon seasoning salt |
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning |
2 teaspoons paprika |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
vegetable oil (for frying) |
Directions:
1. Place chicken in a large bowl and add water to cover. 2. Add vinegar and 1/4 c salt and let stand 30 minutes, then drain well. 3. Stir together flour and next 6 ingredients. 4. Dredge chicken in flour mixture, shaking off excess. 5. Pour oil to a depth of 2 into a Dutch oven and heat to 350 degrees. 6. Fry chicken in batches, 9 to 10 minutes on each side or until done. |
