Southern Egg Custard Pie

I have made this egg custard pie for about 30 years now... Hubbys cousin gave me the recipe... it has never failed me...Comes out perfect every time...
Ingredients:
1 pint plus 2 tablespoons milk
6 eggs
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup less 2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of nutmeg (optional)
Directions:
1. Cream butter, sugar and salt.
2. Add 3 eggs and mix at medium speed with electric mixer for 1 minute.
3. Add other 3 eggs and beat 3 more minutes on high speed.
4. Stir in milk and blend well.
5. Add vanilla and nutmeg; stir until blended
6. Pour into large unblaked pie crust.
7. Cook ten minutes at 450 degrees then turn oven down to 325 degrees and bake for 25 minutes longer or until knife blade comes out clean in center of pie.
