The sauce is excellent. Great for company, or a family meal for a couple days. I have tried this, and the sauce can be easily freezed if necessary. Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground turkey |
2 medium onions, chopped |
1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms |
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained |
1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 cup ketchup or 1 cup barbecue sauce |
1/2 cup nonfat beef broth |
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
3/4 tablespoon ground cumin |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
12 cups spaghetti, cooked |
Directions:
1. In a large non-stick skillet, cook the turkey, onions, mushrooms, green pepper, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, drain. 2. Transfer to a slow cooker, stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, broth, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, cumin, and chili powder, and stir well. 3. Cook on low 4-5 hours. 4. Serve over cooked spaghetti. |
