South American Hot Barbecue Sauce |

Use as a basting sauce for spareribs, beef or poultry. Ingredients:
1/2 cup yellow onion, minced |
1/2 cup green bell pepper, minced |
2 garlic cloves, crushed |
1/4 cup olive oil |
2 teaspoons chili powder |
2 cups tomato puree |
1/2 cup red wine vinegar |
1/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed |
1/4 teaspoon crushed dried hot red chili pepper |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
Directions:
1. Stir fry onion, green pepper and garlic in oil in a saucepan over moderate heat 5 to 8 minutes until onion is pale golden. 2. Add chili powder and stir fry 1 to 2 minutes. 3. Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer 30 minutes. |
