A fun way to use some of your sourdough starter. Ingredients:
4 ounces baking chocolate |
1/2 cup hot water |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine |
2 cups sugar |
4 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 cup chopped nuts |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 cups sourdough starter (active and bubbly) |
Directions:
1. Prepare chocolate mixture by placing chocolate in a small pan and adding hot water. 2. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. 3. Add baking soda and mix- mixture will foam. 4. Cool mixture to lukewarm. 5. Meanwhile, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. 6. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition. 7. Add vanilla and the cooled chocolate mixture. 8. Add nuts, flour, salt and sourdough starter. 9. Mix well and pour batter into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. 10. Let set in a warm place for 30 minutes. 11. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 12. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until a pick comes out clean. |
