I like sour dough, always have, must be a genetic thing, Great,.great, great, grandparents walking across country to get to the promised land. Well the gold fields of California anyway. I have tried various recipes for sourdough starter as there are tons of them out there. Read more . Everything from simple flour and water (which I did not try since it did not involve yeast or sugar) to purple grapes harvested during a full moon by a sky clad virgin with a silver blade (you can go to jail for trying to talk someone into that one.) OK the recipe did not call for a virgin, but I think it wanted you to let it set for 30 days and I don't like to wait for anything that long. ADD? naha….ooo look it sparkles! Sorry I got distracted. I used Frankieanns's sourdough recipe this time but I must have seen something shiny as I put in a TBS of unfiltered apple cider vinegar. At the time I thought to myself self this is strange won't the vinegar completely defeat the fermentation process? Well it did not completely screw it up but it did change it. Most of the time the starter really expands and then it collapses in on its self. This did not behave that way, but it did come away with a nice flavor. We shall see how if behaves as it is only been working for about 5 days. Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
4 tsp baking powder |
2tsp sugar |
