I've had fun experimenting with baking sourdough the past couple months, mostly using the oven, I finally found a good one for my bread machine. It's from my favorite bread machine book again, Electric Bread 2nd Edition. This recipe requires some advanced prep because it uses a sourdough starter, I don't have a recommendation for a starter as of yet. Starter should be loaded into the machine when it is peaking, which means it will be frothy, bubbly, and foamy. This is for a 1.5 pound loaf. Cook time depends on your machine. Ingredients:
2 cups sourdough starter |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 cups white bread flour |
2 tablespoons dry milk |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
2 teaspoons fast rise yeast or 3 teaspoons active dry yeast |
Directions:
1. Place ingredients in bread pan in the order suggested by your machine's manufacturer. Bake on White cycle. |
