Moist, heavy good old-fashioned pound cake. Doesn't get much better. Ingredients:
3 cups sugar |
2 sticks butter (real, please!) |
6 eggs |
1 cup sour cream |
3 cups flour |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp. baking soda |
1 1/2 tsps. vanilla extract |
1/2 tsp. almond extract |
glaze ingredients |
2 cups powdered sugar |
evaporated milk to desired consistency |
1 tsp. vanilla extract |
1/4 tsp. almond extract |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. 2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. 3. Add baking soda to sour cream; stir into creamed mixture. 4. Add flour, to which salt has been added, a little at a time, beating constantly. 5. Add vanilla and almond extracts. 6. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour and a half, or until tests done. 8. Let cool for about 10 min. then turn out on serving plate. 9. Drizzle with glaze while cake is still warm. |
