This cookie is not real sweet and you can dress it up with colored sugars, icing or even chocolate. These have always been my very favorite cookie. - Submitted by lonewolf from Lost Creek, PA. Ingredients:
1 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
3/4 cup sour cream |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
4 1/2 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Cream together butter and sugar. 3. Add the sour cream, egg and the vanilla; mix well. 4. Stir in baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg. 5. Gradually add flour until dough is too difficult to stir. Mix the rest by hand. 6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll out to 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick. Use your favorite cookie cutters. 7. Space cookies about 1 1/2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. 8. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned at the edges. 9. Cool completely on wire racks. 10. Decorate with icing, colored sugar (if using colored sugar, sprinkle cookies before baking) or dip tops in melted chocolate. |
