Although Ed is always looking for a great crumb topping recipe , I simply have no problem at all with the topping on the cake. Very easy to make. Very rewarding to eat!
Ingredients:
filling
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon chopped walnuts (or more, if desired)
cake
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 pound butter, softened
4 large eggs
2 1/2 cups sour cream
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Prepare tube pan with non-stick spray
2. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
3. FILLING:
4. Mix together cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and walnuts.
5. Set aside.
6. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, soda, powder and flour well.
7. Add butter.
8. Beat well.
9. Add sour cream, vanilla eatract and eggs.
10. Beat well on medium-high speed for 4 minutes.
11. Pour batter and filling alternately into prepared pan.
12. End layering with Filling mixture.
13. Bake for 70 minutes or until cake tests done.
14. Remove from oven.
15. Cool completely before removing from pan.
