Royal Canadian Legion...Ladies Auxiliary Cookbook recipe A biscuit, more like a scone. Light texture, and can add raisins if you like. I have made them with buttermilk or yogurt when I have no sour cream.A nice addition to any meal. They look delicious also. Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
3 tablespoons cold butter |
1 egg |
1 cup sour cream |
1 tablespoon cream |
1 tablespoon sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450°F. 2. Cut butter into dry ingredients. 3. In another bowl, beat egg and mix with sour cream. 4. Add to dry ingredients and mix lightly with a fork just until incorporated 5. into a ball. 6. Roll out with a light touch on floured board to 3/4 inch thick. 7. Cut with cutter. 8. Glaze if desired by brushing with cream and sprinkling with sugar and maybe a little cinnamon if you like. 9. Bake 15 minute or until done. |
