This is another phyllo recipe that I make - I would not attempt making the pastry myself - it is reaaaaly hard. - I buy it . Read more . Vissino - sour cherries you can find in any Greek or Eastern European store as a compote or in syrup, if you cannot find the fruits themselves. Ingredients:
1 package phyllo pastry or puff pastry |
or the pastry recipe at : cottage cheese sweet pie myzithropitakia |
filling |
sour cherry from sour cherry in syrup drained (about 1 kilo - 2 cans) |
3 spoons sugar |
3 spoons flour |
Directions:
1. Divide the pastry in 2. If you use phyllo pastry, butter it well and follow the instructions. If you use puff pastry, roll it and spread it. 2. Filling: Mix sour cherries (if you have found the real thing - take out the seeds!) with sugar and flour. Let it sit for 20 min. 3. Spread the sour cherries and roll it in pastry. Repeat so, that you will have 2 pies. 4. Bake at 375F for 40 min. |
