These are packed with nutrients, they taste great, and they're fun to experiment with by switching around what you put in them: I've subbed chocolate-flavoured protein powder for the cocoa. Replace the wheat germ with bran flakes or, to make them gluten-free, use a crushed cereal or similar. You can use agave nectar or blackstrap molasses instead of honey to make them vegan. Serving size and prep. time are approximates. Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanut butter or 1/2 cup almond butter |
1/2 cup toasted wheat germ |
1/2 cup mixed seeds (sunflower, sesame, flax, ground cereal, etc.) |
1/4 cup honey |
1/2 cup cocoa powder or 1/2 cup carob powder |
unsweetened coconut, finely shredded |
Directions:
1. Mix everything together. 2. Form into small (approx. 1 ) balls and roll in the coconut to coat. 3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. |
