By now you guys have figured out I am a simple baker with simple recipes. This cookie recipe came from an old Electric Company Cookbook many years ago. It's a soft sugar cookie but with the frosting, it gives it such a good taste that one is never enough. Read more . I love them decorated with the little red cinnamon candies. Ingredients:
cookie dough |
3 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup softened butter, alternate |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, alternate |
1/4 teaspoon almond extract |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
3 tablespoons sour cream, alternate |
frosting |
1-2 teaspoons milk |
1/4 cup softened butter |
4 cups powdered sugar |
2 egg whites |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Cookie Dough 2. Dissolve baking soda in the sour cream. 3. Mix the ingredients together, alternating a dry one and then a moist one. 4. Cover and refrigerate overnight. 5. Roll out, cut out and bake at 400 degrees until done. 6. Small cutouts 6-7 minutes (I use shot glass for small), 7. trees 7-8 minutes. 8. I use airbake cookie sheets, no parchment paper. 9. Frosting.... 10. Cream butter, add egg whites & vanilla. 11. Then add powdered sugar. 12. Stir in milk until a frosting consistency is reached. 13. Add food coloring to make your colored frosting. 14. Frost your cookies and decorate how you wish. 15. I do refrigerate them, your choice. |
