This copycat Archway's recipe was sent to me by a friend. I have never had an Archway's cookie so I am looking forward to the taste test. I think I will add a dash of almond extract instead of the vanilla. If I like them, then they will make a great St. Read more . Paddy's Day treat, topped off with some creamy green icing! Ingredients:
2 cups granulated sugar |
1 cup butter |
3 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup milk |
4-1/2 cups flour |
1 tsp. baking soda |
1 tsp. baking powder |
1 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Beat sugar and butter until creamy. 2. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. 3. Slowly add milk and beat. 4. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. 5. NOTE: Flour, baking soda and baking powder can be sifted but it is not necessary. 6. Store cookie dough in the refrigerator overnight. 7. Roll dough on a floured surface. 8. Work quickly and keep dough cold. 9. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes. 10. Sprinkle tops with either colored sugar or plain granulated. 11. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes on top rack. 12. Remove from cookie sheet immediately and allow to cool on rack. |
