A variation on an old Betty Crocker favorite. These are a holiday staple in our family and you WILL NOT EAT JUST ONE! One of my most guarded recipes, now shared with the zaar community. I hope you enjoy. (recipe easily doubles) Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
8 ounces fat free sour cream |
1/2 cup light margarine or 1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup dark molasses |
1 large egg |
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
2 teaspoons ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 375°F. 2. Mix sugars, sour cream, molasses, egg, margarine, and shortening in a large bowl until smooth. 3. Stir in remaining ingredients. Do not over mix! 4. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookis sheet. Place about 2 inches apart. 5. Bake time is roughly 10-12 minutes or until the cookies have browned. May be hard to gage by color so bake until almost no indentation remains in center of cookie when touched. 6. Cool on wire rack. 7. Serve by themselves or dipped in whipped cream! |
