This is one of those recipes that gets handed down from generation to generation. Simple & Good! Recipe contributor: My sister Barbara. Ingredients:
3 egg whites |
1 cup sugar |
1 tsp vanilla |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
14 - 16 soda crackers; crumbled |
1 cup pecans or walnuts |
1-1/2 cups whipped cream (i use cool whip) |
optional |
1-1/2 cups strawberry halves or raspberries |
Directions:
1. Beat egg whites until foamy. 2. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff. 3. Add vanilla. 4. Fold in remaining ingredients. 5. Pour into well buttered 9 inch pie pan. 6. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. 7. Cool and top with whipped cream (or Cool Whip). 8. Add strawberries or raspberries (optional) 9. Can also be served with ice cream instead of the whipped cream. |
