Diane Phillips Ingredients:
6 slices bacon, chopped |
3/4 lb bulk pork sausage (jimmy dean) |
1 large sweet onion, chopped |
1 1/2 cups ketchup |
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar |
1/4 cup light molasses |
1/4 cup pure maple syrup |
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce |
2 tablespoons yellow mustard |
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon dried chipotle powder (to taste) |
5 (16 ounce) cans plain baked beans |
Directions:
1. In a large pot, fry the bacon until it is almost crisp; remove from the pot and set aside. 2. Add in the sausage and onion; saute, breaking up the sausage into small pieces until it is no longer pink and the onion is translucent; remove all of the fat from the pot. 3. Add the reserved bacon, the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, and chile powder to the pot; bring to a boil, stirring until the mixture is incorporated. 4. Add in the beans, stirring to combine and simmer 1 hour; serve hot. |
