This makes enough to feed a herd of people. I picked this up from one of the school's drive through suppers. Will probably come in handy if I ever have another family reunion or the like. Ingredients:
3 lbs bacon, diced |
3 medium sweet onions |
6 (28 ounce) cans baked beans, undrained |
6 (16 ounce) cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained |
6 (15 1/2 ounce) cans butter beans, rinsed and drained |
3 lbs sausage links, miniature fully cooked and smoked and cut into thirds |
3 cups brown sugar, packed |
1 1/2 cups ketchup |
1 1/2 cups vinegar |
1 tablespoon garlic powder |
1 tablespoon ground mustard |
Directions:
1. In a large Dutch oven, cook the bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 3 tablespoons drippings. Set bacon aside. 2. In the drippings, saute onions until tender. Combine beans, sausage, bacon and onions. 3. Combine the remaining ingredients; add to bean mixture and mix well. 4. Pour into four greased 13 x 9 inch baking dishes. 5. Bake, uncovered, at 350ºF for 45-55 minutes or until heated through. |
