My grandmother used to make a version of this around the holidays every year and I have always loved it! I've always had it served with crackers, although I suppose you could have it with bread or veggies, too. Ingredients:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature |
8 ounces finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
1 cup chopped toasted pecans (or more if you like, i like it very nutty) |
2 drops liquid smoke (to taste) |
Directions:
1. Mix the cheeses together thoroughly (this may take some muscle, depending on how soft the cream cheese is). 2. Add the liquid smoke and mix thoroughly again. 3. Fold in the pecans. 4. Taste for smokiness and add more liquid smoke to taste. 5. Chill before serving or eat right away! |
