1. Slow Cooker Swiss Steak 2. /4 cup all-purpose flour 3. salt and pepper to taste 4. /2 pounds round steak, cut into small pieces 5. tablespoons vegetable oil 6. stalks celery, chopped 7. onion, chopped 8. carrots, shredded 9. (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice 10. tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 11. tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste 12. In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, salt, and pepper. Lightly coat the 13. round steak pieces in the flour mixture. Heat the oil in a skillet 14. over medium heat, and saute the celery, onion, and carrots about 5 15. minutes, until tender. Remove from heat, and set aside. Mix in the 16. round steak pieces, and cook until lightly browned. Place the 17. vegetables and steak in a slow cooker. Mix in the tomatoes with 18. juice, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Cover, and cook 8 to 10 19. hours on Low, until the round steak is very tender. |
