Exellent on a cold day with a nice thick slice of bread. Ingredients:

* 5-6 slices of good smoked bacon will work too |
one medium onion chopped |
3 celery stalks with leaves chopped |
2 sprigs of thyme (teaspoon dry) |
6 cups water |
Directions:
1. Soak peas in water over night . 2. First put in Ham bone and meat. 3. Cover with onions ,celery, and thyme. 4. Add peas and water. 5. Cook on high for 8-10hrs or until peas begin to break up and give the soup a chowder appearance. 6. Remove the bone, take what meat is on the bone, chop into bite size pieces and return these to the soup 7. Season with salt and pepper (careful with the salt the ham will have infused the soup with lotsa salt) 8. Cut a nice thick slice of your favorite bread....and chow down!! |
