From 3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Comfort Foods Cookbook. It's that time of year here for wine, dip and cozy moments. Stoke the fire and set this with some lovely crusty bread (Panera's has some wonderful choices) Ingredients:
2 cups white wine |
1 lb swiss cheese, grated (can use emmental or gruyere) |
1/4 cup all-purpose flour |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Put the wine in the slow cooker and cook on high for 1 hour. 2. Dredge the cheese in the flour. 3. Add the cheese and flour, plus salt and pepper to taste, to the hot wine. 4. Do not stir! 5. Cover and cook for 1/2 hour. 6. Stir until smooth. 7. Continue to cook for 1/2 hour more. 8. Stir to make sure there are no chunks of unmelted cheese remaining. 9. *Your Preference: you can add a fiery cherry brandy (Kirshwasser) just before serving. |
