This is a warm dish to have dinner basically ready for families when they get home from a busy day! Ingredients:
1 pound dried pinto beans |
1/4 pound salt pork or bacon, diced |
1-2 pounds chuck steak, cut into 1 inch cubes |
1/8-1/4 teaspoon crush red pepper |
2 cloves garlic, minced |
1 can ( 6 ounces) tomato paste |
1 cup of water |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
1 teaspoon ground cumin |
salt ( i don't add any, but you may prefer to add a little) |
Directions:
1. Completely soften beans by soaking 2. In a skillet, brown salt pork and cubed chuck steak over medium-heat; drained well. 3. Add to crock-pot with soaked beans. 4. Add remaining ingredients; stir well. 5. Cover and cook on High for 2 hours, then on Low for 7 to 12 Hours or cook on High for 5 to 8 Hours. 6. Calories 538 Kcal 7. Fat 30 gm 8. Sodium 443 mg 9.
