Slow-cooked Pepper Steak

This is a good recipe if you have to be in and out of the house all day.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 - 2 lbs. beef round steak
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
4 tomatoes, cut into eighths
2 large green peppers, sliced into strips
1/2 cup cold water
1 tbsp. cornstarch
rice or noodles
Directions:
1. Cut beef into 3 x 1-in. strips; brown in oil
2. Transfer to slow cooker.
3. Combine next 7 ingredients; pour over beef.
4. Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours.
5. Add tomatoes and green pepper.
6. Cook on low 1 hour longer.
7. Make paste out of water and cornstarch.
8. Stir into liquid in slow cooker and cook on high until thickened.
9. Serve over rice or noodles.
