Slow Cooked Chili Macaroni

beef and tomato based chili with macaroni pasta
Ingredients:
1 1/4 lbs lean ground beef
14 1/2 ounces canned no-salt-added diced tomatoes, drained
1 cup onion, chopped
1 medium garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves, dried
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
2 cups whole wheat macaroni, cooked
Directions:
1. Crumble beef into skillet with onions. Brown. Add remaining ingredients including macaroni. Cook on medium heat, reduce heat to simmer, cover for 1 hour stirring occasionally. For slow cooker: Crumble ground beef into slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients except pasta. Cover and cook on low 4 hours. Stir in cooked pasta. Cover and cook on low 1 additional hour. You can substitute ground turkey for beef for lower saturated fat.
