It says this recipe cost .64 cents per serving. I found this recipe in Family Circle magazine. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for safe keeping. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
3/4 cup chopped onion |
1/2 cup chopped sweet pepper |
1/2 cup chopped celery |
1 grated carrot (about 3/4 cup) |
2 1/2 cups canned whole tomatoes, undrained (about one and one-quarter 16oz-ounce cans) |
16 ounces tomato puree |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef in big iron skillet, about 4 minutes. Stir in onion, green pepper and celery and fry until brown, about 8 minutes. Add carrot, tomatoes and tomato puree. Stir mixture well and season with pepper and salt. Simmer 45 minutes. 2. Serve over hot buttered corn bread. |
