My mom and I got this recipe from a diet group we join a million years ago. We lost the recipe for years and just re-found it. the beef mixture freezes very well in portions. Ingredients:
cooking spray |
1/2c chopped onion |
1/2c chopped red peper |
1 clv garlic minced |
1/2 lb ground beef |
1/2 c canned puree tomato |
2 tbs ketchup |
3 tsp worcestershire sauce |
1 tsp chilli powder |
1/4 tsp dry mustard powder |
whole wheat pitas with pockets |
low fat cheddar |
lettuce |
sour cream (optional) |
Directions:
1. Fry onions, garlic and pepers with cooking spray till soft, set aside. 2. Cook ground beef and drain. 3. Add onion mixture to beef. 4. Stir in tomato puree, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, chilli pwd and mustard pwd. 5. let simmer for 8-10 minutes 6. spoon into ww pitas 7. top with cheddar, lettuce and sour cream (if using) |
