This recipe came from a friend way back in my childhood. However, I have changed it a bit to suit myself. The recipe just came as a list of ingredients, and I thought I would write down the amounts for safe keeping. So adjust to your liking. Ingredients:
2 lbs ground meat |
3 tablespoons liquid smoke |
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce |
16 ounces ketchup |
6 ounces chili sauce |
1/2 cup barbecue sauce |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 onion, chopped |
1/2 green pepper, diced |
3 tablespoons molasses |
salt and pepper or seasoning salt |
8 small hamburger buns (smaller size) |
butter |
onion, sliced |
8 slices cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Brown Meat, drain and then add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover and let simmer while preparing the buns. Butter the Buns and toast them either on a stove top griddle or under the broiler. Serve hot with sliced onions and cheddar cheese. |
