This was a favorite from my childhood. It beats the storebought brand any day! It's simple and most likely you'll already have the ingredients in your pantry. It's a nice change from your traditional hamburger. Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey |
1/4 small red onion, chopped |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon black pepper |
1/2 cup ketchup |
1 tablespoon yellow mustard |
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
2 teaspoons red wine vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon chili powder |
6 hamburger buns |
Directions:
1. Brown the turkey, drain. 2. Add: 1/4 chopped onion and saute. 3. add 1/2 t salt and 1/8 t black pepper. 4. Mix together and pour over browned meat -. 5. 1/2 c ketchup. 6. 1 T yellow mustard. 7. 1 T brown sugar. 8. 1 T Worcestershire sauce. 9. 2 t red wine vinegar. 10. 1/2 t chili powder. 11. Simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally. Serve on buns. 12. Makes 5-6 servings. |
