This is a great start to set the stage for an even better meal, and ideal for parties. Have trouble getting your kids to eat veggies? I've got your answer right here! This recipe is blatantly stolen from my ex's mom, who drove me to distraction. Read more . But DAMN, could that woman cook. Ingredients:
10 oz dried chopped onion |
8 oz cream cheese, softened |
8 oz sour cream |
white (dry) cooking wine |
salt, pepper, dash of garlic powder |
garnish |
Directions:
1. In an airtight container, pour dried onion and enough white wine to completely cover. 2. Seal and refridgerate overnight or until the onion has completely absorbed the wine. Usually within 2-4 hours. 3. Uncover, then mix. 4. Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream and mix well. 5. Put salt, pepper and dash of garlic to taste. (Garlic brings out the taste of onion and visa-versa) 6. Garnish with sprig of parsley or rosemary. 7. *Tip: If it gets too stiff in the fridge, add a dash of white wine and beat it back to smoothness. 8. Serve with bite sized veggies. i.e. Baby carrots, celery sticks, cauliflower, mushrooms, green or wax beans, etc. Try to use assorted colors for eye appeal. |
