This is an old fashion staple... but yummy when fixed right. Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds white turnips |
3 tablespoons butter or margarine |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon sugar |
2 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 cup finely chopped onion |
1 tablespoon chopped parsley |
Directions:
1. Wash turnips; pare; cut into 1/4 inch cubes. 2. In medium skillet, with a tight fitting lid, combine turnips, 1 tablespoon of butter, salt , sugar and 1/2 cup of water. 3. Cook covered over medium heat., ten to 15 minutes. 4. In another skillet slowly heat rest of butter. 5. Add onion, lemon juice and parsley; cook until onion is done. 6. Gently toss onion mixture with turnips. |
