I grew up knowing these as Sloppy Joes . When I wanted to make sloppy joes myself and bought a packet of sloppy joe seasoning, it did not taste like I remembered it! I asked my mom what I had done wrong, and she told me this was the recipe that she used for Sloppy Joes. I have not tried this yet myself, but I remember liking them as a kid. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 cup onion, chopped |
1 cup celery, chopped |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup |
1 dash bottled hot pepper sauce |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon msg |
1/4 teaspoon chili powder |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef. 2. Add onion and celery and cook till tender but not brown. 3. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. 4. Serve on buns. |
