A make-ahead for breakfast or brunch. Simple and delicious. My sister makes it for Christmas brunch. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons corn syrup or 2 tablespoons maple syrup |
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup brown sugar, packed |
1 1/2 cups milk |
5 eggs |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 loaf unsliced bread |
Directions:
1. Melt butter and mix with syrup and brown sugar. Pour into bottom of 9x13 dish. 2. Slice bread into 1/2 thick slices and place over sugar mixture. 3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread and cover. 4. May refrigerate overnight or cook immediately. 5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 6. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. |
