Sirloin steak simmered in a light tomato sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided |
2 lbs top sirloin steaks, sliced |
1 onion, thinly sliced |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, with juice |
1/2 cup red wine |
1 teaspoon dried oregano |
1/2 teaspoon dried basil or 2 teaspoons chopped fresh basil |
salt, to taste |
ground black pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high flame. Brown the steak strips on both sides. Remove to a plate when browned. 2. Add 1 tbsp oil to pan. When shimmering, add onion and saute until deep golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Add garlic and saute 1 minute or until fragrant. 3. Return beef to pan and add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat until beef is cooked through, 10-15 minutes. |
