Sirloin steak simmered in a light tomato sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 lbs top sirloin steaks, sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, with juice
1/2 cup red wine
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil or 2 teaspoons chopped fresh basil
salt, to taste
ground black pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high flame. Brown the steak strips on both sides. Remove to a plate when browned.
2. Add 1 tbsp oil to pan. When shimmering, add onion and saute until deep golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Add garlic and saute 1 minute or until fragrant.
3. Return beef to pan and add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat until beef is cooked through, 10-15 minutes.
