Be sure to prepare the syrup at least a few hours before making drinks so that it has plenty of time to chill. Ingredients:

1. In heavy medium saucepan over medium heat, stir together water and sugar until sugar dissolves. Increase heat slightly, then simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Refrigerate syrup until cold, about 3 hours. (Can be prepared 1 week ahead. Cover and keep refrigerated.) |
