Another one of my mom's recipes. This freezes really well, and can also be used for stuffed shells. Make sure to stir it more frequently than you think it needs, because if it singes you will have to start all over! Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/2 teaspoon onion powder |
2 teaspoons dried oregano |
2 bay leaves |
2 (26 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes |
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce |
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste |
Directions:
1. Brown and drain ground beef. 2. Add spices and bay leaves and cook for one minute, or until it starts smelling really good! 3. Add tomato products, stir, cover, turn heat to LOW. 4. Simmer, stirring frequently, for two hours with the top on. 5. Simmer, stirring frequently, for one hour with the top off. 6. Serve over any cut or length of pasta you like - not so good with whole wheat pasta, however. |
