This is a throw into the pot & walk away until it's finished cooking dish. Good for you & tasty too. Ingredients:
2 cups water |
3/4 cup long grain rice (that cooks in 15 minutes) |
1/4 cup soy beans |
pinch salt |
garlic powder |
basil (use whatever seasoning you feel like. i had a basil kind of day when i made this) |
Directions:
1. Pour Water, Rice, Beans, Salt, Garlic Powder & Basil into Water & bring to a boil. 2. Stir so it doesn't stick to bottom of pot & burn. 3. When Water boils, stir, cover pot & turn heat down. 4. I checked on it 10 minutes & stirred it as I'd never made this before. 5. At 15 minutes, I took the lid off, tasted it & let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to get rid of the excess water. 6. The Soy Beans were perfectly al dente & the rice was yummy & both were full of flavor. 7. I had mine with grilled chicken & Dill Carrots. 8. Today, I cut up the leftover chicken & threw everything else (the Rice, Soy Beans & Carrots) into a cast iron skillet with a little Olive Oil. 9. I should have sauted some onions first & then added everything else. 10. Had to share as it was just too easy & too good not to. 11. Sorry no photo. |
