This is a great dish to try on leftover rice on day-do-day cooking. This is simple and quick to make (if you do not count cooking for rice) and does not need any side dish. This is very economical to make and is delicious with drool inducing flavour. Ingredients:
1 large bowl - cooked boiled rice (leftover from previous cooking) |
1 large onion chopped |
2 green chilies chopped in button shape |
1 tsp mustard seed |
1 tsp urad dal (split black gram without skin) |
1 tbsp curry leaves |
2 tbsp ghee (indian style heated butter) or refined oil |
salt to taste |
Directions:
1. Put kadai (Indian style deep frying pan) on stove at medium flame 2. When the kadai heats up, pour ghee 3. When some fumes start appearing add mustard seed 4. When the mustard seeds starts crackling, add urad dal 5. When urad dal starts becoming a little darker, add chopped onion & chilies 6. About after 15 second, add curry leaves 7. When onions become transparent, add rice 8. Fry well so that rice does not stick to bottom, add salt 9. keep frying the mix till all ingredients are well mixed 10. Serve hot with veg salad and potato chips (optional) |
