Simple Brown Rice Pilaf

This is a quick and simple side dish that I throw together regularly with ingredients I almost always have on hand. It's tasty and healthy!
Ingredients:
1 cup instant brown rice
1 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 green onion, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon minced onion flakes
1 teaspoon garlic salt
salt & fresh ground pepper
Directions:
1. Mix chicken stock and next 5 ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. Add rice, return mixture to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes (for instant rice- follow package recommended cooking times for other brown rice varieties).
3. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.
4. Fluff with fork.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
