Simple Bean Soup

This dish is perfect for church functions. There won't be any left once people taste this healthy dish!
Ingredients:
1 lb. dry great northern beans
8 c. water
12 small carrots
1 c. chopped onion
1/2 lb. chopped ham
1/4 c. ketchup
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Using a large bowl, soak the beans in water, cover with dish towel. Let soak at least eight hours.
2. Drain the beans. Add beans to pot of water over medium heat.
3. Add the carrots, the onion, and the ham.
4. If necessary, add more water. Cover.
5. Let this simmer for up to 6 hrs.
6. Just before serving, add ketchup.
7. Add salt and pepper and Enjoy!
