This is my Great Grandmothers home made maple syrup recipe. It's so easy and it lasts a long time in the fridge. I hate store bought syrup and this is the only kind I will eat. Goes great with my Grandmothers Pancakes (Recipe listed under my name!) You can add more or less Maple extract for how strong you want the flavor to be. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1 cup water |
1 cup white karo |
1 dash salt |
5 drops vanilla extract |
1 tablespoon maple extract (more or less, depending on taste) |
Directions:
1. Whisk together sugar, water, karo and salt. 2. Place mixture in pyrex or microwave safe dish. 3. cook in microwave on High 7 minutes. 4. Stir, and cook another 7 minutes 5. Take out of microwave (Be careful, IT'S HOT!). 6. Add Vanilla and Maple Extracts and pour into serving container. |
