This is a different kind of shrimp dish. It was sent in to the food editor of our local paper (The Times Picayune) by someone named Redhot123. It sounds so good that I wanted to share it with everyone :) Ingredients:
3/4 stick salted butter |
1 stalk celery, finely chopped |
1 bunch green onions, finely chopped |
3 cloves fresh garlic, minced |
2 lbs. fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined |
1 heaping tablespoon cornstarch |
11/2 cups cold water |
1 teaspoon kitchen bouquet |
1 teaspoon white pepper |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper |
salt to taste |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in heavy skillet over medium heat. 2. Add celery and green onion and sweat until clear. 3. Add garlic and shrimp. 4. Cook until shrimp are pink. 5. Mix cornstarch in the cold water and add to the shrimp mixture. 6. Stir until heated through. 7. Add Kitchen Bouquet, pepper and salt. 8. Lower heat, stir and cover for about 10 minutes. 9. Serve over fresh (Redhot123 says not to use instant) mashed potatoes with green peas. |
