Just pure yumminess. My friend who lives in New Orleans always uses this recipe, even though I gave it to her and I am NOT from New Orleans. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups chopped onions |
1 cup finely chopped celery |
2 medium green peppers, finely chopped |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine |
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 cup water |
2 teaspoons snipped parsley |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon red cayenne pepper |
2 bay leaves, crushed |
14 -16 ounces cleaned raw shrimp (shells removed) |
3 cups hot cooked rice |
Directions:
1. Cook and stir onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic in butter in large skillet until onion is tender. 2. Remove from heat; stir in tomato sauce, water, and seasoning. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Add water if needed. 3. Stir in shrimp. Heat to boiling. Cover and cook over medium heat 10 to 20 minutes or until shrimp are pink and tender. 4. Serve over rice. |
